About the project
In 2021, the board of EMEC realized the Geulle postcoderoos project. On March 26, 2021, the first electricity was delivered to the grid.
The number of solar panels is slightly less than half of the Meerssen solar power plant. Although modest in size, it is a beautiful project. We gave the immediate neighbors (Oostbroek) the opportunity to register with priority, after which other residents of Meerssen were given the opportunity to register. In addition to the 5 residents from Geulle, 14 other residents of Meerssen have registered as members, making the solar power plant possible.
The Geulle solar power plant was still realized under the old postcoderoos scheme, which was a complicated tax regulation that made it possible to invest, through an energy cooperative, in solar panels on someone else’s roof. The scheme applied until April 1, 2021, and has since been replaced by a subsidy scheme for cooperative energy generation.

Registration
The Geulle solar power plant has been realized and registration is closed. Currently (June 2021), we are working on realizing a fourth solar power plant in the municipality: Marnis Bunde II solar power plant. You can still register for that via our website.
Of course, you can always become a member of EMEC and/or register for our newsletter free of charge, thereby supporting us to fill even more roofs with community-funded solar panels.
