EMEC is looking for roofs in Maastricht and Meerssen!
General motivation to participate:
Entrepreneur/roof owner should consider using an unused roof for energy generation as part of CSR.
RES 1.0 focuses on utilizing roofs with solar panels. This as a first step to initiate the energy transition from fossil to renewable energy.
The more roofs that we can utilize, the fewer panels on the ground that are necessary and thus our Limburg hill country is protected from unnecessary solar farms.
Local energy generation by local investors (residents) instead of solar farms financed by foreign investors who profit from the subsidies.
It’s time to stop climate change, we all need to do something. What could be easier than offering an empty roof?
The energy cooperative can only realize new solar roofs if we have a suitable roof. But what is a suitable roof?
Large enough > 300 m2, we can build a solar roof up to max 450 m2 (about 200 panels. If there are several objects on the roof (air conditioners e.g.) then of course more space is needed.
Bigger is currently not possible due to congestion on the grid. We stay within the capacity of a maximum small consumption connection.
Roofing must last at least 15 years.
Roof must be fireproof.
Roof must be strong enough. EMEC always has a recognized structural engineer check the roof strength. If the roof is not strong enough, we examine whether possible adjustments to the roof or if placing other, lighter panels is an option.
What steps do we take together – roof owner and EMEC.
Letter of intent to make the roof available for at least 15 years – preferably 25 years. This simple document from RVO (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland) is needed to apply for the necessary subsidy.
Agreement on the condition (rental costs, acquisition after 15 years) under which EMEC may use the roof for at least 15 – preferably 25 years.
Drafting of a Right of Easement (RvO). EMEC fully prepares this process with the notary and submits a draft to the roof owner. After approval, the agreement is signed by the notary. The costs are paid by EMEC.
What else does EMEC do?
Applying for the Cooperative Energy Generation Subsidy (SCE). This subsidy is specifically designed for energy cooperatives and VvEs only to apply for subsidies to make a reliable business case. The subsidy is a payment per kWh produced. For exact calculation of the subsidy see: https://www.rvo.nl/subsidies-financiering/sce
Applying for and supervising the necessary feed-in connection (3x80Amp) at ENEXIS.
Search for participants for the solar plant. The subsidy scheme only applies if the participants of the solar plant (participants are financial contributors) live within zip code areas directly around the plant. This ensures that local power is financed by local financiers and therefore the revenues remain local.
Quotes are requested from installers and after evaluation the contract is awarded. EMEC then supervises the actual construction of the installation.
Insurance is taken out for any damage caused to the roof by the installation and for the installation itself.
The location of the inverters and the feed-in connection are determined in consultation with the roof owner. If necessary, this can also be done outside the building.
What are the benefits for the roof owner?
If the roof is large enough and the owner wants to install panels himself, the following benefits can be gained:
The purchase price is lower with a larger installation.
No time spent on arranging all the matters concerning the installation.
A small fee per year for “renting” roof,400-500 €/y, depending on the number of panels.
Employees of the company, provided they live in (greater) Meerssen, can participate in the solar power plant.
Building rises in energy label
Link the name of the company to the installation: free advertising!
Of course, the entrepreneur must invest in his installation himself.
